In 2009, Keira Knightley teamed up with Joe Wright, who also directed her in Atonement and Pride and Prejudice, to create a free ad for Women's Aid. The extended ad aired in U.K. theaters before feature films and was later promoted for TV with posters that featured actresses such Anna Friel, Jemma Kidd, and Fiona Bruce with bruised faces.

Leave it to racist internet trolls to ruin an innocent, family-friendly commercial.
The source of all the unnecessary controversy is the newest 31-second “Just Checking” commercial brought to you by Cheerios. The premise? It’s as cute and completely uncontroversial as it gets: an adorable girl foils her dad after asking her mom if the cereal is really heart-healthy. The outcome is one messy and awww-worthy moment. While sterile blue liquid will probably remain a staple of female hygiene television ads, Always has taken a small step towards reality by creating a print ad that represents blood. Somewhat. The campaign, seen above, features an Always pad with a small red dot trapped (or neatly placed) inside a maze.
Advertising expert/blogger Copyranter referred to the ad as a “historical advertising move”.
