Last week, a fan site released un-retouched photos of Beyoncé that committed the heinous crime of letting us know she’s human. It’s unfortunate enough that as a musician her appearance warrants to much scrutiny (we don’t remember au naturale pictures of Jay-Z ever unleashing so much controversy), but what’s sadder is the weird, beauty-normative ways viewers responded: Many fans claimed the photos weren’t real and that blemishes had been Photoshopped onto her skin; others expressed their outrage that they had to see their idol untouched. So exciting! Cody Tubman is her high school’s first ever transgender prom queen, crowned by classmates in Middleborough, Massachusetts. Does anyone else wish they went to Middleborough High?
Cody came out as transgender in her freshman year, and she stopped wearing boys’ clothes the year after that. Her mama was loving and supportive from the start, her school was down with her using the girls’ washrooms, and Cody says most of her classmates really accepted her for being herself. Read More
Supportive moms have gathered to send a holiday message to all LGBTQ children, teens, and young adults who are without family support and who would like a “stand-in Holiday Mom.” "Your Holiday Mom,” a nonprofit blog, aims to spread a message of love and acceptance to these young people, and let them know that “Your holiday mom loves you as you are."
The project, which will run during the 40 days between Thanksgiving and New Years, features 40 moms (dads too!) with 40 messages and stories of love and acceptance. Read More
