Jennifer Whalen, a 39-year old mother of three, was just sent to jail in Washingtonville, Pennsylvania because she is charged with the crime of ordering medical abortion pills online for her daughter to terminate her pregnancy. The daughter took the pills on her own accord, during her first trimester, and the pills worked.
This is not a pro-life or pro-choice issue, because if it were, the daughter might be the one jailed (fortunately, an abortion in the first trimester is legal in Pennsylvania). Unfortunately, it was the means used that were found illegal in the state. Read More

Meet Lucy Flores, the Democratic candidate for Nevada’s lieutenant governor. She’s been a representative in Nevada’s State Assembly since 2010 (and was one of the first Latina members as well!) and instead of campaigning on policies that will “get the vote”, she campaigns on her own real story.
Flores grew up in poverty as a part of a family of 13 children in the Nevada district that she represents today. As a teen, she fell in with a gang and was sentenced to time at a juvenile prison. Read More

Okay America, I HAVE HAD ENOUGH. I am sick and tired of you spilling your “religious convictions” all over my nice new pair of CIVIL RIGHTS. I got them in mint condition, on sale for an exceptionally reasonable price, and now, THANKS TO YOU, they are splattered with ridiculous restrictions, based on bad science and arbitrary **cough sexist cough** beliefs. (Sorry, I’m a bit allergic to bull shit. Read More

On June 25th, NBCUniversal released a statement acknowledging that they had asked the media buyer for the movie “Obvious Child” to remove the word “abortion” from a digital ad. The network also noted that this request had been a “mistake,” stating that “an online ad was submitted for digital placement and feedback was mistakenly given to remove the word 'abortion.' That is not company policy and we are currently reviewing our ad standards processes to ensure they are consistent across all platforms moving forward. Read More

The governor of Louisiana wants not only to be your next president, but to drive abortions back underground as well.
Two days before speaking at the Iowa Republican State Convention and shortly after alluding to a possible 2016 run, Bobby Jindal signed a bill further restricting Louisianan clinics with a Baptist church as witness.
