The latest blow to women’s health has been dealt by Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who has signed off on a two-year state budget that prevents Planned Parenthood from participating in the Breast and Cervical Cancer Services program. The joint state-federal program provides free cancer screenings for uninsured, low-income Texas women. A provision of the budget stipulates that clinics affiliated with abortion providers cannot receive funding from the program. Read More

This Saturday will be the Abortion Drone's first flight ever. The drone is a collaboration between a number of organizations, including Women on Waves, to provide abortions to women in countries where it is illegal. This isn't Women on Waves's first time helping women in abortion-restrictive companies: Previously, they sailed around the world. The first trip of the Abortion Drone will be from Germany to Poland. In bullshit news that certainly won't start your day off right, a federal appellate court upheld the provisions of a particularly restrictive Texas abortion law. Total garbage law HB 2 demands that in order to improve “safety,” abortion clinics must maintain the same building and equipment standards as hospital-style surgical centers, as well as requiring abortion doctors to obtain admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of the clinic.
