Fall means one thing to me: New Girl is back on FOX! I’ve been waiting all summer to see what’s up with my favorite manic-pixie-nightmare-girl, Jessica Day (played by former BUST cover girl Zooey Deschanel). Turns out, she hasn't been up at all. The premiere began with Jess oversleeping, in typical Jess-blunder fashion, and subsequently running through the apartment attempting to get ready for work. Read More
As of a year ago yesterday, the internet has been invaded with live streams of cute animals, rants and raves on seemingly everything on TV and the silver screen ever, and a lot of baller nail art. This sparkly invasion is brought to you by the infectious laughter of HelloGiggles, an online community pitched as "the female alternative to funny or die," created by the Queen of all things Adorable herself Zooey Deschanel with friends Sophia Rossi and Molly McAleer. McAleer and Rossi met through their online network of hilarious bloggers, and then Rossi met Deschanel in aerobics class at the gym. Read More

New Girl's New Grille

Just in case Zooey Deschanel's presence on your TV screen on Fox's fall hit New Girl, iPhone Siri commercial, or SNL as a host was not enough adorkability for you, her face now may be on a bus in a city near you. Today the New Girl Facebook page announced the "True American" bus tour, which will kick off labor day weekend in Boston and move on to New York. The tour's name clearly comes from the show's infamous patriotic drinking game, to which the rules are still unclear. Perhaps we can learn on the tour, since it looks like every major city in America will be getting a dose of Zooey and Co. Read More
Past BUST cover girl and star of this year’s TV hit New Girl, Zooey Deschanel, recently added another shiny badge to her accomplishment vest: member of Forbes magazine’s Celebrity 100 list. The list highlights the “world’s most powerful celebrities” by assessing their monetary value and influence on the business world.   Ms. Deschanel is nothing short of a huge influence in the latter category. She’s a musician, actress, and producer, making her a triple-threat in the entertainment sphere. Read More
Even though it's unseasonable warm in some areas, I can't help but love this fall/winter time of year and the fact that it's getting closer and closer to the holiday season. While the holidays are close though, the October 25th release of the She & Him holiday album,"A Very She & Him Christmas" is even closer! I'm not exactly decking the halls just yet, but I'm definitely excited for musical holiday goodness to come. Christmas songs have a tendency to get repetitive so I'm always down for new songs or a fresh sound on old classics. Read More
N.Y.C.-based editor/designer Hamish Robertson is a busy man. You would think that being the online design editor of Vanity Fair would be time-consuming enough, right? Yet somehow Robertson finds time to create websites for well-known businesses (like vegan treatery, Babycakes), publish zines and prints as Brown Griffin (from his Brooklyn apartment), and curate Afterzine, a beautifully compiled arts and culture publication.   I’ve recently come across two online sources that take issue with what is basically the infantization of women and women’s media. There’s The Daily Beast’s “OMG! Women's Sites Need to Grow Up” by Tricia Romano and there’s a blog post by Julie Klausner. Both Jane Pratt’s highly anticipated site, xoJane.com, and Zooey Deschanel’s new collaborative site, HelloGiggles, are aimed at young women ages 16-35. Read More
I’ve just come across this new website, HelloGiggles, founded by actress/muscian, Zooey Deschanel, producer, Sophia Rossi, and blogger/web personality, Molly Mcaleer. So far content is limited to this Mother’s Day video, but they promise more to come! It’s set to be, “the ultimate entertainment destination for smart, independent and creative females.” They also note that the site will be super lady-friendly unlike most of “boy’s club content” that makes up a lot other entertainment sites. So far, so good it seems. Read More
In the trailer for the new medieval (first of many mistakes!) stoner comedy, Your Highness, James Franco plays a straight man for some reason, Danny McBride plays the slovenly stoner brother, while Natalie Portman a sexy sex object who can beat up guys which is funny because she’s little and stuff. And Zooey Deschanel plays that classic female character, the one who appears to be held captive/bound for a good part of the movie, awaiting rescue. Read More
