I've seen plenty of dudes sportin' the classic letterman jacket, but it's not until recently that I'm seeing ladies get in on the action as well. The bow ties, loafers, and cardigans of school years past have since become staples in many people's wardrobes, so it's only natural that this schoolyard gear would also make an appearance. The jackets were all over the runway, at shows from Alexander Wang and Phillip Lim to Moschino and Rag & Bone. They can now be seen on celebrities and stylish street stylers alike. Read More
I've been reading the adorable book "My Mom Style Icon" by Piper Weiss lately and with each picture and every story, I become more and more fascinated. I love old photos and to hear the back stories is an extra plus. As I pass each photo, I can't help but think, "My mom and grandma should totally be in this!" I had heard of this awesome blog a while back, but always forgot to submit so I figure now is as good a time as any to show the world my favorite style icons: two ladies I like to call Mom and Grandma.
My grandma, Lorenza, seemed to have an enviable collection of dresses. Read More
I know there hasn't been a blog of the week for a while now, but I'm hoping to get back on track to showcase some of my favorite blogs and fashionistas. I thought I'd start back up with one of my favorite bloggers, the always gorgeous Ashley of Fancy Fine. I recently had the pleasure of making her acquaintance at the Blogger Picnic during NYC Fashion Week and not only was she impeccably dressed, rocking a Laura Ashley original, but incredibly sweet as well. The fall lines and looks are starting to appear every place I turn and I couldn't be more excited. Fall is my favorite time of year. I call it "tights and sweater" season which makes me infinitely happy considering my giant drawer of colorful tights and shelves of crazy sweaters, which were kind of useless in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Like my Summer Wishlist last June, I decided to culminate all the things I'm in love with at the moment and either can't afford or might just splurge on in the next coming months. Read More
As London Fashion Week rages on, I look to blogs such as KrisAtomic and Facehunter for great looks from overseas. Sadly, this post is the last of my Fashion Week photos. It was a fabulous week filled with style at every glance and I look forward to the street style of seasons to come! For now, enjoy my last bit of NYC Fashion Week. Above you've got Garance Dore and Scott Schuman of The Satorialist congregating outside Lincoln Center, taking photos here and there. Read More
This street style edition is chalk full of bloggers such as Bryanboy, Lifestyle Hunters, and one of my personal favorites, cinemagraph lady extraordinaire, Jamie Beck of From Me To You. The comings and goings of all the shows were just as exciting as the shows themselves and usually a chaotic crowd of photographers lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the hottest looks of the moment.
This was at the fabulous Norma Kamali 3D shopping experience hence the somehow stylish 3D glasses. Read More
If you're looking for new blogs to read or just want some stylish inspiration from bloggers you already love, check out some of these street style pictures from "A Very Stylish Picnic" aka the lovely blogger meetup I attended in Central Park last Saturday. I was pretty excited to meet some of my favorite bloggers and to hang with fellow-lovers of vintage and style. We all came together for a pre-Fashion Week celebration and ate, drank, took lots of pictures, and were serenaded by boys in speedos (wait..what?..yep, it's true). Read More
Working till 8pm at a vintage store in the Village, I stayed dressed up all day and went straight from work to Fashion's Night Out festivities. I don't normally stress about bringing the fashion fun, but I knew people would be dressed to the nines and I wanted to find a middle ground. I probably went through at least 3 outfit changes the night before, trying to take themes, weather, and shoe comfort into consideration. I finally ended up with a look that felt comfortable enough for work and stylish enough to go out and about. Read More
In my previous entry, I chronicled the look I put together for the 2011 Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island. My outfit was just one of many and when I got to the event, there were so many fantastically dressed people that I didn't know which way to turn! I love how everyone was completely dressed to the nines. The men were dapper, the ladies were glamorous, and even a few adorable kids were dressed up. It made me glad that such an event even exists! Check out some of my favorite fabulous looks from this wonderfully jazzy event.. Read More
The Jazz-Age Lawn Party, a fabulous bi-annual, daytime jazz event on NYC's Governors Island took place earlier in the summer and is currently taking place this weekend, August 20th and 21st. I was lucky enough to attend yesterday and I have to say the outfits were fantastic and the bow-tie clad boys made me swoon. Read More
