N.Y.C.-based editor/designer Hamish Robertson is a busy man. You would think that being the online design editor of Vanity Fair would be time-consuming enough, right? Yet somehow Robertson finds time to create websites for well-known businesses (like vegan treatery, Babycakes), publish zines and prints as Brown Griffin (from his Brooklyn apartment), and curate Afterzine, a beautifully compiled arts and culture publication. Laurie covered the event in this previous entry of the Advanced Style party hosted by Ari Seth Cohen and Style Rookie's Tavi Gevinson, but I thought I might share some of the amazing street style I was able to cover while we were there. It was pretty fantastic how people of all ages came together to celebrate style..in style! Everyone there looked fantastic dressed to the nines and it was one Fashion Week event I wont be forgetting any time soon.  Ilona Royce Smithkin's rendition of "La Vie En Rose" was a highlight of the night. I heard that this collaboration was not happening through some random internet source that no one backed up a while back and I assumed was just a rumor, but now it is a rumor no more. Tavi Gevinson of Style Rookie and Jane Pratt of XoJane.com once talked of creating a Sassy-like website and magazine for teens headed by Miss Gevinson. When XoJane.com launched, readers were confused that Tavi was nearly no where to be found, but hype was still building for some kind of collaboration. Read More
Posted by Ariana Anderson and Grace Evans     Sassy Magazine, arguably the best teen magazine of the late ‘80s/early ‘90s and a great source of inspiration for BUST, was paid tribute this week by The Talent Show Brand Variety Show, hosted at Littlefield in Brooklyn. The event sold out with lighting speed, but we were lucky enough to get in.   Hilarious hosts Elna Baker and Kevin Townley threw pinches of glitter into the air and read letters from readers that had been published in Sassy throughout the evening. Thirteen-year-old fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson and founder of Sassy magazine (and former JANE editor-in-chief) Jane Pratt have announced their collaboration on a brand new Sassy-esque teen magazine. Tavi, known for her outspoken feminist views, wacky-teen-by-way-of-Comme-Des-Garcons outfits, worldly writing style, and infamous wearing of an oversized hair bow hat in the front row of some fashion show, has never been your typical precocious tween role model, from her swift denouncement of Terry Richardson to her obviously formidable PR skills.
