Oh my god, SHOES!

BY Laurie in General

In my search for the perfect transition sandal/shoe for fall, I've stumbled upon many gladiator (yuck) and whatever you call those frankensteinn boot/shoe combos (Booes?) but I am happy to say I found the perfect classy peep toe wedge with these neat Jeffrey Cambell gems, called the Vera 2 (available in black at Karmaloop and Lori's Sole of Chicago ). Got to www.jeffreycampbellshoes. Read More
Okay, I have a confession to make: I love postcards.  But who doesn't?  Nothing fills my heart with honest-to-goodness sentimentality like a 4x6 piece of flimsy cardboard sent from a friend in a faraway place.  That's why when I saw an exhibit dedicated solely to postcards featuring ''bathing beauties'' of the 20th Century is opening, I instantly knew it would be a gush-worthy spread of feminist nostalgia. Viva La Biba!

BY Laurie in General

Beyond Biba Trailer from November Films on Vimeo. I was super psyched to hear the news that a documentary has been made about my absolute all time fave 60's-70's design house, the influential and way ahead of it's time, Biba. The movie, Beyond Biba, is premiering in the UK this weekend, and I really do hope it makes it over to our shores. Biba was founded by Barbara Hulanicki and her husband in 1964, and quickly grew from a small mail order company to become huge part of the youthquake scene in London. Read More

Dirty Town, Dirty Shop

BY Web Intern in Style

Are you a bride-to-be or just a big fan of panties and burlesque? Tomorrow night at Town Shop in NYC Dirty Dolls Lingerie will be hosting a launch party for their line with a red carpet and VIP shopping event. You can get fitted for one of their righteously sexy bras and shop for panties, shapers and tap pants. All while drinking free wine and eating wedding cake (booze and sugar? for free? could you ask for more?). Plus you can get a makeover from The Glam Fairy and burlesque lessons from Jo Weldon of the New York School of Burlesque. Read More
No, this one isn't caused by that shirtless picture of Daniel Craig that randomly popped up in your last Google image search. This particular bizarre feeling in your south towns can actually be from your pants. Apparently if your skinny jeans are a little too, uh, skinny, they can cause meralgia paresthetica or 'tingling leg syndrome.' It comes from excess pressure being put on your femeral nerve by restrictive denim, and it only gets worse if you pair them with heels. It sort of feels like your leg has fallen asleep. Read More
If you really like food, or things that are shaped like other things, these purses might be perfect. Hambags by Hannah Havana of Garudio Studiage are little vinyl purses and wallets shaped like food. Choose between a hot dog, a chicken leg and a burger for the purse, or pick up a Whopper Wallet, which is shaped like - you guessed it - the very fast food favorite it was named for. They all come with a chain strap (the wallet has a chain wrist loop) and zip closed. And the Garudio Studiage Shop will ship internationally, if you're interested. Read More
