This past Saturday’s SNL was a step up from the show’s material of late, with host Lady Gaga proving to be an actually pretty funny lady. What would have made the show even better, however, is this crazy unaired skit titled, “Female Sea Captains,” which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like.
Watch Lady Gaga and the rest of the kick-ass SNL ladies sail the high seas (sort of), mock traditional female stereotypes, and speak in crazy accents below. Read More

If Tina Fey’s new NBC show, and Kristen Schaal’s upcoming ABC series weren’t enough exciting lady-centric television news for you, fear not. Deadline has just reported that Saturday Night Live alumna Maya Rudolph is developing a variety show pilot with NBC!
Rudolph’s last television endeavor, NBC’s Up All Night, on which she co-starred with Christina Applegate and Will Arnett, was cancelled in February. Rudolph then indicated that instead of another sitcom, she was interested in pursuing a variety show. Read More

It’s only been a few weeks since veteran Saturday Night Live player Kenan Thompson made a statement regarding the lack of African-American women in SNL's cast. This issue is something that has been largely un-addressed since Maya Rudolph's 2007 departure from the sketch comedy show. Should we be ashamed we've let that slip for the last six years? Probably. But there are people who want a better answer than that.

When Tina Fey pulled up her chair at the Saturday Night Live writers’ table, the show wasn’t all that woman-friendly. In her autobiographical book Bossypants, the comedien tells a story of how writers often assumed men in drag could be more funny than women. By the time she left, the show had featured more female greats than ever before: Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolf, Kristen Wiig, and others graced us with their unbeatable wit.
But wait a second! As Salon’s Carolyn Edgar points out, Keenan Thompson and Tracy Morgan are famed for their drag performances. Read More
Oh, you didn’t hear? Tina Fey is hosting SNL’s 39th season premiere with awesome musical guest Arcade Fire. And judging by the promo, the episode looks simply divine. In the video, she admits that she is super excited and rejoices in her friendship with colleague Kenan Thompson. They even engages in a little dirty talk about the number 39, although it turns out to be more disturbing and hilarious than sexy. Parodying an Emmys wardrobe malfunction, Tina even forgets to wear her shirt to the shoot and bares all. Read More

AHHHH I’M LIZZING! This is probably the greatest lady news I’ve received all day! The truly special, talented, and hilariously wonderful Tina Fey will be returning home to NBC by hosting Saturday Night Live’s 39th Season Premiere. This will be…wait for it…Tina’s FOURTH time hosting the show she got her start from. On September 28th, Arcade Fire will also join Tina, as SNL’s musical guest. Read More

I’m totally in a glass case of emotion right now. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are making a cameo in the sequel of Anchorman, along with pretty much everyone and their mom. Recent pictures feature the two ganging up on Sasha Baron Cohen, with crow bars, no less. Is the former Weekend Update duo partaking in the news anchor rumble to end all news anchor rumbles? Here's to hoping.
It’s good to see some ladies crashing the boys club at the Channel 4 News Team. Fellow Saturday Night Live alum Kristen Wiig is also set to appear as Brick's love interest. Read More

In what we can only guess is an attempt to put together the most effing amazing awards show ever, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are set to co-host the 70th Annual Golden Globes. These funny ladies only get funnier when they’re together. Remember Tina photo-bombing Amy at the Globes last year? Or the 2011 Emmys? Or Baby Mama? Or SNL? The list of times the two have been brilliantly paired together goes on and on.
The Golden Globes will air on January 13, 2013. Cannot freakin’ wait.

It didn't help that I saw the ironically titled Celeste and Jesse Forever post break-up, so consider that a warning. If the humor hadn't consisted of jacking off with a piece of baby corn and a gay Elijah Wood, I would have desperately sought out the theater's nearest exit to escape the sweaty interior of the on-screen friendship. Thank goddess some people are just as perverted as I am.
Celeste (Rashida Jones) and Jesse (Andy Samberg) are a couple in the process of a divorce that can't seem to stay away from each other. Read More

Meet Kate McKinnon, the newest featured player to join Saturday Night Live's cast. In light of Paul Brittain's departure a few weeks ago, Lorne Michaels has been auditioning new cast members. With BUST crush Kristen Wiig's contract potentially ending after this season, it's pretty rad to see a new woman enter the ranks.
McKinnon has performed with the Upright Citizens Brigade and starred in the first three seasons of Logo's "Big Gay Sketch Show." She's Saturday Night Live's first out lesbian to join the cast in over 20 years (since Danitra Vance in 1985. Read More
