The 7th annual Afro-punk Festival returns to Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn, NY and the line-up is probably the most spectacular yet. Incredible artists such as Santigold, Janelle Monae, Cee-Lo Green, Joi, Rocky Business, Toro Y Moi, and many others will take the stage August 27th and 28th. There’s music for almost any taste because, like the 2010 promo video states, “Afro-punk is not a genre—it’s a state of mind.”

Bust favorites, Major Lazer, Santigold, and Art Brut, are playing the Downtown Music Festival next week. Between them, and the other artists on the line-up, these two shows are not to be missed!

Santi White, better known by her stage name Santigold, is definitely celebrated for her unique melodies, reminiscent of Pixies and inspired by 1980’s pop and Siouxsie and the Banshees, and yet completely her own. Having gained acclaim for her fearless self-expression, it is no surprise that her personal aesthetic reflects her eclectic artistry.
