The Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute benefit gala is unofficially one of fashion's biggest nights - Ralph Lauren declares it the "Super Bowl of fashion." A-listers, armed with their $25,000 tickets, came together Monday night in their most adventurous outfits to make an impression and celebrate fashion as an art at the Vogue-sponsored event. And while some of the sartorial choices on Monday shone, many fell flat, and some were just perplexing. Read More
Confession: I'm totally obsessed with Rooney Mara's red carpet style. Sure, I saw that Dragon Tattoo movie and it was good in that long, super intense kind of way, but what I'm really digging at the moment is all the sartorial press and red carpet appearances by Mara, who basically kills it every time. After months of speculation over who would play asocial hacker Lisbeth Salander, the first photos of a black-haired, pierced, fully-transformed and hauntingly strange-beautiful Rooney Mara appeared-- and it was clear that Salander had some serious icon potential.

It's been a grueling search for the female lead of the Hollywood adaptation of Stieg Larsson's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Names have been tossed in the air and shot down like Duck Hunt: Ellen Page, Carey Mulligan, Emily Browning, Emma Watson, Mia Wasikowska, Kristen Stewart. But Sony Pictures has announced today that Lisbeth Salander will be played by Rooney Mara, who recently starred in a remake of Nightmare on Elm Street and in the forthcoming The Social Network about the rise of Facebook.
