Chrissie Hynde will go down in history as many things: one of the first women to front a rock band, a songwriter of revolutionizing titles including “Brass in Pocket,” and now, as a sympathizer of rapists. But Hynde isn’t backing these horrendous criminals blindly. No, in fact, she’s been there as a victim herself, so don’t tell her she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Because, you know, rape victims did ask for it. All women are asking for it. Read More
Injustice takes many forms in our society, and one of its most cruel is our legal system's treatment of rape victims.  Not only is rape under prosecuted and devastatingly traumatic, the victim often seems to be offered little in terms of closure.   A press release featuring a new line of lingerie in the style of Victoria’s Secret made its way onto the web this week, featuring a slew of slogans and phrases heralding the importance of communication and consent between sexual partners. Update: Defense attorneys for the two teenage boys have officially withdrawn their motion to hold Savannah in contempt for tweeting her attackers' names after the case gained worldwide recognition. Phew! Upset by what she felt was a lenient plea bargain for two teen boys who plead guilty to assaulting her and circulating pictures of the incident, 17-year-old Savannah Dietrich turned to Twitter to share her frustration. “There you go, lock me up,” she tweeted, according to the Courier Journal. “I’m not protecting anyone that made my life a living Hell.
