Ethan Fixell of MTV's Guy-Code won himself a little flack last Wednesday when he published an article decrying the typical lack of hot chicks at metal concerts. The piece, somewhat obtusely titled “Why Are There So Many Cute Girls at Metal & Hardcore Concerts Now?” challenges its readers with funny, true remarks like “Death metal events are known to be...how do I put this...'vaginally challenged.'” ...yup.   Pussy Riot member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova has been relocated to a penal colony in Siberia to finish out her 2-year sentence.  Russian Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin confirmed her transfer to The Associated Press on Tuesday. Nadezhda is serving her sentence for “Hooliganism motivated by religious hatred” after the band staged an anti-government performance at Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Read More
"We Gonna Take It," the latest track from crazy-cool F.O.B. (Friend of BUST) Eaves, is going to be my jam for a looong time. Eaves says the track is "Dedicated to my sisters in pussy riot who remain unjustly incarcerated. #freepussyriot." Three members of Pussy Riot, a Russian punk band, have been imprisoned for months and continue to face oppressive conditions. Most recently, one member, after a disappearance, has been transferred to a Siberian Gulag. Eaves' track, with its thumping chorus and political drive, is reminiscent of M.I.A. Read More
It was a little more than a month ago that Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, member of imprisoned feminist punk group Pussy Riot, announced she was embarking on a hunger strike until "until [the administration] starts treating us like humans." In an extensive and difficult to read open letter, Tolokonnikova revealed the deplorable conditions in which she has been forced to live as she serves her two-year prison sentence.  Now, following a transfer from her original location in Mordovia, Tolokonnikova is missing. On October 21st, she was transferred by train to a still undisclosed location. Read More
