Polish-born musician Ela Orleans recently put out a music video for the song “Elegy,” off of her latest tape release, and it's just right for meadow naps during the golden hour. High Moon Low Sun is out now on Clan Destine Records, and is Orleans’ newest release since 2011’s excellent LP Mars Is Heaven. “Elegy” is a dreamy track, featuring the artist’s haunting vocals, some jazzy trumpet, and an uplifting jingling melody that carries throughout. SXSW-featured musician and BUST favorite Zola Jesus will be on Conan O’Brien tonight! Huzzah. After a European tour earlier this year and a stint at the Guggenheim, ZJ will grace our television screens performing with Brooklyn hip-hop star El-P. The two will definitely be playing something from El-P’s newest solo album, Cancer 4 Cure.
The rapper announced his on-air collaboration with ZJ via Twitter saying “tomorrow I'm on Conan with the squad and Zola Jesus. day after that la.” He then tweeted a picture of a very sullen looking Zola a few hours later. Read More
Despite the fact that she only just released the four-minute long trailer yesterday, Lana Del Rey’s video for “National Anthem,” featuring A$AP Rocky, was released this morning- and it's definitely interesting. Directed by Anthony Mandler, the video features Lana playing both Marilyn Monroe AND Jackie Onassis while A$AP plays JFK in what appears to be a live-action instagram reel. Whether it has you bleeding red, white, and blue or ready to move to Canada, nothing gets people in the mood for the 4th of July like an All-American controversy! Well played, Lana, well played. The masterminds behind the "Call Me Maybe" Barack Obama remix are at it again, this time using the smooth stylings of Justing Bieber's "If I Was Your Boyfriend." Let the president serenade you in this cut together video. Although he cannot really be your boyfriend (Michelle would probably be ticked), you can wonder as to what the president would really do as your man.
Would he sit by the fire with you and eat fondue like the Biebz? Fly you to Hawaii to show you his hometown? Make Donald Trump jokes with you on his birthday? We can only wonder. Read More

If you’re looking to have a grand ole time this Thursday, June 28, look no further than the EP release party for Ocean Born Mary- the debut album from alt-country band Karen & the Sorrows. It’ll be in Park Slope, Brooklyn at The Rock Shop (249 4th Ave), where the band will play alongside The Library and Clare Burson.
Ocean Born Mary was inspired by an old New Hampshire ghost story of the same name. During the early 18th century, a pirate vessel hijacked an immigrant ship, which was a common occurrence. Read More
Our week of hot, sunny sunshine just got a little bit brighter. Cat Power’s Chan Marshall recently released an official announcement for her upcoming album Sun with a new track that’s got us tapping our toes on the hot sidewalk cement. “Ruin” may be Marshall’s brightest song yet, driven by an uplifting piano melody and pulsating, rhythmic drumbeat. The song is accompanied by lady Cat Power’s soothing voice, which is as beautiful as ever. Read More
If you haven't heard of remix pro Pogo, you're in for a treat. He creates his "remixes" by using odd noises, chords, and voices from films such as Snow White and UP to Lord of the Rings and Dexter, and the results really are truly incredible (and oh-so-catchy!). Check out his newest remix of the classic "Pulp Fiction" below and thank us later. Read More

You’ve heard of the amazing things going on in Russia. Right? You’ve heard of the protests in Red Square and surprise show at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. I know you’ve seen images of these fiercely brave women dawning balaclava head gear and outfitted in neon. Well at least I hope so. Russian all girl punk band Pussy Riot has made headlines over the past couple of months with the guerilla style activist work and the movement of women they are leading in Russia. Read More
Dream-psych duo Peaking Lights’ third full-length album, Lucifer, is their most accessible yet. Out June 19th on Mexican Summer in the US and on Weird World June 18th in the U.K, it follows last year’s release of the incredible summer lovin’ 936. This latest album contains a similar meditative atmosphere, with grooving rhythms and rich textures, but it's gentler than their 2011 record. Lucifer is comparatively more like a late-night lullaby and less like a sedated psychedelic dream. Read More
I often hear artists and musicians respond in interviews that they do what they do because of an intense and mysterious compulsion. This strong drive is difficult to understand unless personally experienced, but to Iceland’s Sigríður Níelsdóttirit, the feeling was all too familiar. So much, in fact, that she recorded a catalog of over 700 songs within seven years at the tender age of 70.
Lovingly known as ‘Grandma Lo-Fi,’ Sigríður is the epitome of DIY music. Read More
