Gaga or Madonna?

Who would you rather hang out with? While I am the last person in the world to have anything good to say about pop music, radio songs, or whatever it is you want to call it, after watching Gag's and Madge goofing around on SNL , I started thinking about the old and the new, and tho I've never been a fan of their music, you've gotta hand it to these ladies for making BIG strides in the business on their own merit. A friend of mine has been trying to get me into La Roux for several months now, and I just kept saying no. The music was too cutesy, her voice was annoying, and I had enough Europop on my iPod already. Do you know what happened yesterday? The Madonna: Celebration DVD dropped. Okay, so if you're not as big of a Madonna fan as I am, you probably weren't looking forward to this event as much as I was. I had it marked on my calendar: buy Madonna DVD! I didn't even wait until after work was over -- I bought it on my lunch hour and proudly displayed it to my fellow interns upon my return. The Swedish band Fever Ray made their US debut at Webster Hall last night, and Karin Dreijer and company did not disappoint. The set was very dark, the performers hidden mostly by smoke machine and shadow, while lasers beamed across the room and audience, and a few table lamps pulsed a dim orange glow on stage. From where I was standing (it was hard to see anything) it looked like Karin was wearing what I can only describe as a small African hut that she was ensconsed in, she almost had a Sigmund The Sea Monster vibe.
