Of all the free outdoor music events in NYC happening this summer, one of the best is the Americanafest NYC, celebrating American roots music, happening now at the beautiful Damrosch Park located at Lincoln Center. Wednesday night, the Godmother of Americana and alt country, Emmylou Harris and her long time musical collaborator of 40 years, Rodney Crowell, kicked off this awesome festival. So I just found out about this event, She's Got the Power: A Girl Group Extravaganza at Damrosch Park Bandshell, Lincoln Center and I'm kind of spazzing out because it sounds so amazing. It's a symposium AND concert featuring some of the most legendary, amazing girl, group singers of the 1960's. I saw Ronnie Spector of The Ronettes about two years ago and she was just phenomenal. She was so nostalgic and never missed a beat by singing all the hits. It kind of made my life when she singled me out to wave because I was dancing like a maniac. Read More
