Kim Shattuck, guitarist of The Muffs, had missed her band. She had been playing with the LA-based punk rock group since their formation in 1991 and up until they decided to take a break after their fifth record in 2004. About a decade later, she paid a visit to her mother’s house, where a number of previous Muffs songs were written, to see if the environment sparked any new inspiration. After playing with the Pixies for 25 years, bassist Kim Deal called it quits in June of this year. Her replacement, Kim Shattuck, is lead singer and guitarist of The Muffs, and previous member of The Pandoras. Recently, Shattuck was reportedly "let go without explanation" from the group earlier this month. Why you would ever give up the magic of Kim Shattuck? Who knows! Not even Kim Shattuck!

With a smudge of red lipstick, thick bleach streaks and sweet babydoll dresses, Kim Shattuck pulls of 1993 well. It's impressive, considering it's 2013, AND considering that Kim turns 50 today! Seriously? Seriously. And she's left us a pretty rock and roll resume for us to stare at, so grab my hand as we take very quick stroll down memory lane.
