Remember in the Titanic when Jack says goodbye to Rose for the first time, and women and children are the first passengers let onto the lifeboats? Wasn't that so chivalrous, and also such a clear reflection of the era's view of women as in need of saving? Well ladies, in bittersweet news, it seems those days are over. A lot of things come to my mind when I think of James Cameron. Kickass director. Deep-sea explorer. But defender of female action heroines? Not at the top of my list.
