Barbie is now accessorizing with a cute clutch, small computer, stilettos...and Wifi hardware? Matel has created a new Barbie that can intelligently respond to its owner’s voice. Think Siri from your iPhone, but packed into a disproportionate doll wielded by small children with formative brains. It works by processing the child's voice and sending it through the internet to create a response. Then, at the end of the day the guardian of the child can (optionally) receive an e-mail with the day's conversational highlights. Read More
In other news about male pop/R&B singers feeling the responsibility to remind women of all colors, sizes, and ages of their beauty, Pharrell has released a new music video for his song “Come Get It Bae”.  The video starts out with a declaration in bright red letters: “Beauty Has No Expiration Date”. I instantly prepared myself for another John Legend-type “embrace the beauty of all women-style music video. Read More
Don't start chatting her up--she won't respond. Not because she's busy hurrying to save the lives of the crew of a doomed space mission, but because she's made out of silicone. All Steve Scott's Behance profile says is, this is a "project of mine to see how closely I could imitate life." Scott is an artist and illustrator, but also a portrait sculptor, a model/prop maker, creature FX creator and mould maker. The silicone used to make Sigourney come to life is cast into a mould made from an original clay sculpture. Read More
Ew, ew, ew. Wikifeet is a disgusting (to me) website dedicated to compiling photos and videos of female celebrities' feet, AKA "the collaborative celebrity feet website." I'm getting douche chills just thinking about it. If you become a member of the site, you can upload your own pictures and clips for everyone to, uh, enjoy. Users can rate each celebrity's feet using a star system, which results in a rating of either "gorgeous," "beautiful," "nice," "ok," "bad," or "ugly" feet. Visitors of the site leave extremely gross comments about what they want to do to each woman's feet. Read More
What with the street style bloggers crawling over every corner of the Internet, it seems as though the next-level creeping was bound to happen eventually. This latest incarnation of style stalking is through a camera linked to the Internet, uploading shots of passerby in real time from, naturally, Brooklyn, New York. The camera snapping shots of passers-by is located along Williamsburg’s Bedford Avenue, and is motion activated, so anyone and everyone walking by is showcased on the blog, called Styleblaster, to be judged by all. Shary Boyle is a young Canadian artist residing in Toronto, Canada whose work dabbles on the darker side of life. Her sculpture, projections, paintings and drawings are eerie and undoubtedly beautiful. It seems her work possesses an overtly feminist point of view that doesn’t take itself too seriously.  Her sculpture is perfection. The pieces are intricate, well thought-out and simply fantastic. She has even collaborated with the likes of Feist and Peaches on some of her live projection art pieces for which she is best known. Read More
