To be completely honest, Joan Rivers was never my favorite comedienne. Her hard-hitting jokes, told mostly at the expense of famous others (when they weren’t at her own expense) were too sharp-tongued for my taste. I thought of Rivers as overly venomous, sometimes tactless, and largely inappropriate.
