In the decades since Roe v. Wade, reproductive rights for women are still ripe with stigma and judgment from others. Women are still socially expected to keep to themselves about their abortions, like a dirty little secret. Just when you thought Martha Plimpton couldn't get any cooler, she up and does just that. Last night she announced on Twitter that she had released a video for the women's rights group she recently launched, A is For. In it, she explains the why she started the org--which is basically that things kinda suck for women here and around the world, and they are getting sucker. Plimpton wants to help make things better, and her Org has an interesting rallying cry. Read More
Here's a bad idea from Texas, the state that has been bumming us out hardcore lately:
There should be a law that all women considering abortions in the state of Texas must have sonograms performed on them to view fetal images, hear fetal heartbeats, and have fetal features described to them...by their doctors...out loud.
You and I are probably thinking, isn't this idea fucking unconstitutional?
