Author, This American Life contributor, and co-creator of FOUND Magazine Davy Rothbart is taking a 79-city tour in celebration of the mag’s tenth anniversary. The pages of FOUND are packed with stumbled-upon goodies, including letters, notes, and photos, that run the gamut from touching to absurd. Davy will be sharing awesome new finds as well as a few stories from his new book of personal essays, My Heart is an Idiot.  He’s joined by his brother, FOUND editor and musician Peter Rothbart, who will perform beautiful and hilarious songs based on FOUND notes. We're loving the fashions in these 1970s-era pictures of students at Brooklyn's Saint Joseph's College, which Flavorpill posted recently.      Many of the styles look pretty similar to the ones ladies are sporting today, like the large black-rimmed glasses, pea coats, button downs, and belted waists.  In fact, there are probably awesomely stylish girls dressed like this walking around Brooklyn right now.      There are also quintessentially 70s plaids, vests, flares, and jumpers (most likely made out of wonderful heavy polyester). Tonight, Brooklyn College will unveil "Fold, Staple, Share: Highlights from the Brooklyn College Zine Library." This exhibition will run through the fall semester and spotlights noteable pieces from the collection of zines, which will then become a permanent part of the library that the college is implementing. The collection will specialize in printed zines about Brooklyn, zines by the college’s alumni or zines about the art of self-publication itself. Read More
