Annette and Sue Amendola, sisters living in Brooklyn, New York, have been putting up a nativity scene in the lot next to their home for more than ten years. The real Christmas miracle, though, is the fantastic colony of feral cats that takes over the space annually. They curl up between the figurines and cuddle on the warm hay bale that serves as a manger and, duh, it's freakin' adorable.  According to the Amendola sisters, when they lay the baby Jesus in the manger every December 25th, the cats are quick to topple him over and claim the space for themselves. I don't know about you, but I'm super enamored of Uzo Aduba and Danielle Brooks, better known as Crazy Eyes and Taystee, the characters they play on the Netflix series, Orange is the New Black. Aduba, who has a strong background in theater, is easily one of the best actors on the show, and it doesn't hurt that her character is incredibly heartbreaking and complex. Brooks plays the perceived comic relief, but as the plot develops, her character, Taystee, is revealed have more depth than we thought. Read More

  Live Through This, a portrait series by Brooklyn-based photographer Dese'Rae L. Stage, takes a unique approach to suicide prevention: it puts a face and name to the survivors.  Stage, who is a survivor of nine years of self-injury and suicide attempt, wanted to shed some light on a highly taboo but prominent issue. According to the project's website, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US and a suicide is attempted every 40 to 60 seconds.
