Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm held an exclusive-but-not-too-exclusive Emmys after-party this past Sunday night. The guest list: everyone who lost. Poehler, comedic genius, and Hamm, master of all things brooding, have garnered 9 and 11 nominations respectively over the years but have no winged paperweights to show for it. Still, the Losers Lounge, as they called it, sounds a lot cooler than any party you’re planning to attend this week, complete with other loser-guests like Elisabeth Moss, Fred Armisen, and Jimmy Kimmel. If you haven't fantasized about having a bestie like Amy Poehler, then you're lying to yourself. Finally, in an interview with Vulture, she has revealed to the masses just what it takes to be deemed worthy of late-night texting marathons and corny birthday presents: "Money, connections, power, sexiness, thick hair, fast cars, a sweet-ass booty, and a desire to travel. All those things." Admittedly, her standards are pretty high, but I'd do it all to have just one mall montage scene with her.  "I haven't been able to find one person that meets that criteria.   We all know our girls Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are today’s queens of humor, satire, and hilarious social commentary that deals with women’s issues. But who did this kind of work before them? What female comedian was around for the Women’s Liberation and all that cool stuff? Why, Carol Burnett, of course!   And now Fey and Poehler have the chance to honor this iconic lady by presenting her with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, the most prestigious humor award around.     Remember when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the Golden Globes? Let me jog your memory: it felt kind of like it did when the cool, older kids let you hang out with them after school. The duo was laugh-out-loud hilarious and totally down to earth. They turned the long, potentially boring award show into a night of spicy jokes and tomfoolery.    The bad news: they indicated that they didn't plan on a repeat performance. NBC, thankfully, is refusing to take “no” for an answer, and the network cautiously extended an invite to the duo. Read More
Amy, Amy, Amy, you can absolutely do no wrong with me. Amy, you’re such a funny woman, you star in the NBC show Parks and Recreation, your Ask Amy webisodes makes me feel like I’m never alone, you’re besties with Tina Fey, you’re writing a book (which is going to be majorly awesome), and now you’re starring in the new Pixar film, Inside Out? I’m totally in a glass case of emotion right now. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are making a cameo in the sequel of Anchorman, along with pretty much everyone and their mom. Recent pictures feature the two ganging up on Sasha Baron Cohen, with crow bars, no less. Is the former Weekend Update duo partaking in the news anchor rumble to end all news anchor rumbles? Here's to hoping. It’s good to see some ladies crashing the boys club at the Channel 4 News Team. Fellow Saturday Night Live alum Kristen Wiig is also set to appear as Brick's love interest. We all know that BUST cover queen Amy Poehler tends to keep good company like Tina Fey, Rashida Jones and Aubrey Plaza. But you’re probably less familiar with Poehler’s friend Dr. Jane Aronson, an amazing woman with fabulous blue glasses who dedicates her life to helping orphans in Haiti. On the latest episode of Smart Girls at the Party, Poehler interviews Aronson and celebrates her life’s work as CEO and founder of  the Worldwide Orphans Foundation, whose goal is to orphans feel less alone and more “connected to their community. This morning, Amy Poehler gave us a couple of heartfelt ponderings through her webcam. In the latest episode of "Ask Amy", she responded to a young viewer's question about how much exposure to internet imagery is actually healthy or helpful to us. The comedian somberly admits that she personally does feel bombarded by visual media these days, “In light of recent events, I’ve, and I’m sure you have, and the rest of the world, if not America have been looking at photographs that have been really hard to take. Comedy Central has picked up ten episodes of Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer's Broad City. The current webseries is a long time BUST favorite, so we are damn pleased to see our ladies finally make it big! UCB mainstays Jacobson and Glazer will star as awkward twenty-somethings trying to keep their collective shit together. Broad City has already gotten some major attention for its “sneak attack feminism” and the show was recently listed as one of the Top 25 Web Series Right Now. Read More
