Natalie Ribbons of Agent Ribbons (and friend of BUST!) formed 60s-style, indie pysch-pop band, Tele Novella, just in time for the South by Southwest music festival in March. Based in Austin, Texas, the band is composed of other Agent Ribbons and Voxtrot members. Here's their dreamy new single, "Umbrella at the Station," a bonus track from the "No Excalibur" 7" that came out in the beginning of November. Read More

Austin-based duo and BUST favorite Agent Ribbons is back with a video for "Jamaica and the Wishing Shrine," a melancholy cut from their awesome EP Let Them Talk (released earlier this fall on Antenna Farm). Directed and shot by Jason Hood, the clip finds the band exploring an abandoned Coney Island, chasing seagulls through the streets, and writing messages in the sand. With its sun-streaked beach and carefree vibes, "Jamaica" is a dreamy, vintage-tinged cure for the winter blues. Read More

CMJ Music Marathon kicks off in New York today, which means that from now until the wee hours of Saturday night (or Sunday morning, if you're doing it right), seemingly every band ever will be playing shows at over 80 venues across the city. (Check out the official CMJ 2012 schedule if you want to get excited and overwhelmed on a Jessie Spano-esque level.) We're hoping to catch some incredible lineups over the next few days and nights, and we're pleased to present one of our very own this Thursday. Read More

Jumping seamlessly from style to style and interweaving elements from garage rock, ’60s girl groups, and cabaret, the music of Austin-based duo Agent Ribbons is hard to classify. On Let Them Talk, the band takes a lighter turn than on its past two full-lengths and embraces the whimsical side of its twisted-fairytale style. Opener “Family Haircut” begins with ethereal “oohs” sung over ominous drums, but soon enough, the pace picks up while frontwoman Natalie Gordon sings, “A restless heart is like a satellite. Read More
Austin based, San Francisco raised babes Natalie Gordon and Lauren Hess of Agent Ribbons are at it again with their upcoming EP Let Them Talk, out September 11th on Antenna Farm Records. The newest track off of the record, “Family Haircut,” is a promising preview of things to come, with its beautifully haunting sounds and harmonies. The single opens with some ethereal ‘oohs,’ accompanied by strong, punctuated drumming that then expands into a tune that is both dark and dreamy. Read More

You’re probably familiar with Kickstarter, a website that helps people with plans get the funding they need to make their dreams come true. Kickstarter is a testament to the Internet’s capacity for good—complete strangers can donate money to the projects they believe in, and many of the artists, filmmakers, musicians, startup charities, roller derby teams, and various other visionaries can contribute to culture. It’s kind of like Ebay meets Pay It Forward, minus the part where the precocious kid from The Sixth Sense gets stabbed (spoiler alert) and with a lot more urban farming. Read More

Beautiful, eerie, and a little sultry, Agent Ribbons' video for "That's Not Edgar's Heart" is absolutely mesmerizing. Dressed in vintage party dresses and fascinators, these ladies have created unforgettable imagery for this moody song. With lyrics like "my voice will turn the smoke and tell you I love you while you sleep" it's impossible not to fall in love. Read More
There was a time in which I was totally oblivious to how popular a band was. Usually my naivety went along the lines of: “This band is awesome, everyone must love them!” Now I know that's not quite the case and, whenever I can, I try and spread the word of awesome, small time or local bands I’ve fallen in love with.
At last year’s SXSW, favorite bands I’d never heard of included Best Coast and Hunx and His Punx, who have both since gotten quite a bit of buzz. This year, I stayed low key. Read More
Happy Valentines Day!
We chose this adorable video of the day, Agent Ribbons’s Oh, La La from their new album, Chateau Crone, to celebrate the Holiday of love and candy hearts.

Let Oh, La La transport you, so you too can frolic through this Technicolor meadow, a pastoral daydream indeed. Read More
