Working till 8pm at a vintage store in the Village, I stayed dressed up all day and went straight from work to Fashion's Night Out festivities. I don't normally stress about bringing the fashion fun, but I knew people would be dressed to the nines and I wanted to find a middle ground. I probably went through at least 3 outfit changes the night before, trying to take themes, weather, and shoe comfort into consideration. I finally ended up with a look that felt comfortable enough for work and stylish enough to go out and about. Read More

Have you ever worried about getting old? I’m pretty sure everyone over the age of 10 has, and director Mark Wexler certainly does. He thinks about it so much that he set out to find some answers about longevity, and his new documentary film, How To Live Forever is an interesting look at aging in our society. I asked my pal, Ari Seth Cohen who created the inspiring blog, Advanced Style to check out the movie with me.
While some of Wexlers concerns about aging and dying come across as annoying, there is no doubt it is a rich topic that affects all humankind. Read More
You might be surprised to know that one of the best street style blogs around doesn’t chronicle the style of models or fashion editors, but, in fact, the style of senior citizens! While some street stylers favor young, model-esque bloggers who basically look good in a potato sack, Advanced Style documents the colorfully chic over 60 crowd. Ladies of a certain age seem to be having their moment in the media right now. Last night, I watched a few episodes of Sunset Daze, the new reality show on WE about feisty folks living in a retirement home in Arizona, whose ages range from their 60s to their 70s. The nouveau riche Real Housewives, who are in their 40s and 50s, are acting up every week on Bravo, and soon we'll have another Sex and the City movie featuring glam gals in their 40s and 50s.
