"What do you believe to be true about sex? Where do those beliefs come from? Based on the non-fiction book of the same name written by feminist journalist Rachel Hills, The Sex Myth: A Devised Play blends personal monologues with collaboratively-created vignettes to challenge and redefine perceptions of what is “normal” when it comes to sex, relationships, and self-identity.
Cast share their own real-life experiences and performs their own truths, exploring subject matter like sexual orientation, gender roles, desirability, prude-shaming and slut-shaming, performance anxiety, and more. The result is a unique, personal, and shockingly original performance, in which audience members witness brave individuals sharing their own stories about sex in all its messy, funny, daring, mundane, violent, vicious and loving glory. Critically-engaged, culturally-inclusive, and consciousness-raising, The Sex Myth: A Devised Play is a bold and fearless production that is changing the way men and women think about sex and highlighting the undeniable intersection between the personal and the political.
