One of two members of Russian punk collective Pussy Riot jailed in August for an anti-Putin performance has been moved to solitary confinement.

Prison officials stated that Maria Alekhina, 24, requested the move for her own safety; Russian site Lifenews specified that other inmates threatened Alekhina following a heated discussion about religion.

Band mate Yekaterina Samutsevich was released on appeal in October, but Alekhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova continue to serve their two-year sentences in remote labor camps.

We’re sending positive thoughts for Alekhina’s safety and, as always, hope that this unjust sentence will be overturned.
