We have some good news, and then we have some bad news. Good news: Amnesty International has drafted a policy to decriminalize the buying and selling of consensual sex between adults. This does not include the decriminalization of sex trafficking, the buying and selling of sex involving a minor, nor the buying and selling of sex involving coercion, deception, threats, or violence. This is the decriminalization of buying and selling sex between people over the age of eighteen who have made the conscious decision that they would...

A study conducted by The Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics has found that black borrowers on average pay 29 basis points more - that’s about .3% more - than comparable white borrowers. Black women suffer the most from this disparity, receiving this different treatment more than black men do. The study was conducted using data from three waves of the U.S. Survey of Consumer Finance. This wasn’t just a fluke. If you were wondering what a small .3% difference is in dollar terms, Quartz...

VICE has grown exponentially from its early punk magazine years, giving rise to niche, off-shoot websites like Noisey (for music fiends!), Vice News (for those who care about current events and global issues but hate the stuffiness of traditional outlets) and Motherboard (for lovers of tech and geekery!). But this week, VICE readers will notice a newcomer to the lineup: Broadly, a lady-centric news source for “women who know their place.” One word: YAAAASSS. Spearheaded by former BUST editor and Jezebel contributor Tracie Egan Morrissey (whose Internet presence you...

The Birkin bag by Hermès was designed for Jane Birkin in 1984, who complained to the then-president Jean-Louis Dumas that she couldn’t find a bag that was both stylish and practical. He designed one for her, calling it the Birkin bag. The bag comes in numerous styles, but one of its most popular variations is made from crocodile skin, and costs at least $36,000. Recently, PETA has uncovered the cruel process Hermes puts alligators and crocodiles through to get the material for their luxury bags. From...

Macy Gray’s cool new love song has old-school vibes, and the video has adorable pastel animation reminiscent of an ad from the 1950s. But it’s not completely traditional: instead of being an ode to the human dude (or lady) in her life, Gray is waxing poetic to B.O.B., her vibrator.  “B is for Battery / O, Operated / B is for better ‘cause he’s never complicated,” Gray sings wryly, also cooing “He gets me so excited.” And watching the video, there’s no question that the “he”...
