As if we needed another reason to hate Abercrombie & Fitch. If you’ve ever sniffed your way around A&F’s chain stores (those mannequins wear more cologne than Pauly D) you may have noticed that women’s sizes only go up to a 10. No XL or XXL for the ladies, and the company’s CEO is happy to tell you why. Abercrombie CEO Mike Jeffries’ fat-hate is now common knowledge in the retail world. Robin Lewis, author of The New Rules of Retail, recently spoke to Business Insider about...

There’s a new pro-ho website in town, and she wants you to "come inside." Slutist calls itself a place for those of us who “embrace the YES.” It’s for those who own their hot bods and do whatever they want with them. Mostly, it’s for people who identify as sluts, which may or may not be your cup of tea. The word ‘slut’ packs a punch. Some feminists hate it, and for good reason – it’s been spat at women for generations, from such hateful, grimy places...

Chicago-based duo Hobbyist are no noobs when it comes to creating a weirdo sound of their own. They formed the strange electronica project, I Luv Luv Birds, back in '04 but dropped the name and started anew as Hobbyist. As a garage-y indie rock band, Holly Prindle sings and Marc Mozga provides the guitar, bass, melodica, and drum machine programming. They've just released their first full-length as Hobbyist, a self-titled, angsty ride that lets its electronic roots show but incorporates a lil bit o' post-rock...

If you’ve never been to DUMBO, let me paint a picture for you. Giant warehouses/apartments along the water’s edge, with million dollar views of Manhattan, surrounded by cobble-stoned streets and well, quite a few potholes. Throw in over 120 craft, vintage and food vendors and you had yourself the BUST Spring Craftacular and Food Fair, which set fire to Brooklyn on May 4th.  Not a cloud was in sight as the excited vendors began setting up their wares. An hour before opening time, the line for the...

You wish you were as badass as the Duchess of Alba. As the richest woman in Spain, she’s racked up three marriages, lived through two major wars, and holds more recognized titles than any other noble in the world. Plus she’s got a name that feels like an entire conversation: María del Rosario Cayetana Alfonsa Victoria Eugenia Francisca Fitz-James Stuart y de Silva.   The Duchess is a relative of Winston Churchill, Princess Diana, and King James II of England, and her godmother was Queen Victoria Eugenia...
