Police in Papua New Guinea have charged two people with the disturbing murder of a 20-year-old woman accused of practicing witchcraft. Kepari Leniata was stripped naked, assaulted with a hot iron rod, drenched in gasoline, and burned alive on a heap of trash and car tires earlier this month.  Hundreds of people looked on while Leniata burned to death, including many children and teenagers. Of the 40 people detained during the investigation of the crime so far, Janet Ware and Andrew Watea have been charged with...
Jennifer Herrema, the musician best known as one half of Royal Trux, has partnered up with jewelry designer Pamela Love to form Feathered Fish—a new collaboration between the women, started with the help of Drag City. Though Herrema is known primarily for her music and Love for her design, both are artists of many disciplines; Herrema has designed clothing herself and Love is also a musician.    Herrema and Love have debuted the first item of their collaboration, a re-imagining of the Royal Trux skill ring. Only...
Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche will make history on February 23, when they square off against each other at UFC 157 for the title of women’s bantamweight champion. Never before has the Ultimate Fighting Championship set up a match between two women, and these contenders are particularly formidable.  Rousey, the favorite to win, is a world champion in judo and a force to be reckoned with in mixed martial arts. With her signature fighting move, the armbar, she’s forced all six of her pro MMA opponents...

As Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, she offers up a winning new brand of Southern discomfort (though she’s from the North), with tastes of pop, folk, and Americana. The album begins with a guitar slowly strumming sorrow, as if Spaltro is quietly waiting for the pain to go away while offering up lyrics like, “Love is selfish/Love goes tick tock tick.” She can sound sweet and angelic, then belt...
Fresh off her completely and totally unrealistic tryst with Patrick Wilson*, Hannah lands a book deal! It’s an e-book, which is whatever, but the deal is brokered by John Cameron Mitchell and she publicly vomits afterward. Can’t keep a good woman down. We then swoop into Capri-Panted Ewok’s Den of Iniquity, where he and Marnie are acting very, very couple-y—but not emotionally stirring, Hannah-and-Adam-in-better-times couple-y, just unselfconsciously naked in the same bed. Booth’s assistant Soojin swoops in to tell Booth that she’s run all his stupid errands,...
