One of the founding ladies of Riot Grrrl is getting a documentary all to herself, but it's running into a serious problem. In fact, you may not even get a chance to see it. That is  unless you help the director, Sini Anderson, and her crew out. With 28 days left, they need all the help they can get to get the movie finished or it just won't happen. "In a feat nothing short of miraculous, we have managed to complete shooting for The Punk Singer with almost no significant funding.

A vicious five-member gang rape was apparently filmed by the perpetrators in Nigeria and Change.org is seeking petition signers to to help bring justice to the unidentified female victim. An Abia State University student was brutally assaulted by multiple men in the middle of August and there is now a search to help the unknown woman. I honestly haven't kept up with every collection in NYC, London, or Milan but I've looked up and come across a few over the past few weeks. One Spring/Summer 2012 collection at London's Fashion Week that instantly caught my eye and definitely made me smile was the collection by Meadham Kirchhoff . Designers Ed Meadham and Ben Kirchhoff created a fun, whimsical collection titled "A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing," and from smiley-face/ teddy bear jumpers to fluffy tutus and runway balloons, I'm totally in love with this sugary collection.

Does marching around with a bunch of weird, wild women wearing beards and merkins sound appealing to you? If so, you may be an excellent candidate for the Bearded Oysters, an organization of 500+ parading ladies who hit the streets in custom costumes and show off their various talents for an adoring public. The club started in New Orleans as part of the Mardi Gras parade circuit, and is now looking to recruit in New York in time for the N.Y.C. Halloween Parade.

There’s a new label for women floating around on the Internet: bagel girls. A Konglish (Korean + English) combination of baby-faced and glamorous, the phrase started popping up about a year ago on websites dedicated to K-pop and South Korean celebrities. South Korean stars, especially actresses and singers, are praised as bagel girls for the contrast between what fans have called their youthful “baby faces” and “glamorous” bodies.

Looking for a way to learn more about feminism or immerse yourself in causes that matter to you? Soapbox Inc’s Feminist Boot Camp might be worth a look. Feminist Boot Camp is an intensive week-long program that is designed for young women, or anyone really, who is interested in meeting the movers and shakers of the modern feminist world. Created by Amy Richards and Jennifer Baumgardner, the activists and authors of Manifesta: Young Women, Feminism, and the Future, will also be guiding the urban feminist retreat.

I remember begging my mom for an Easy Bake Oven. Well, actually, I begged her for the Creepy Crawlers playset and an Easy Bake Oven, but she said I could have only one. Since I was too young to explicate a formal critique of gender dichotomies in children's toy advertising, and brownies seemed way more useful to me than bugs, I went for the Easy Bake. Only one photo exists of me using my new toy--in it, I’m frowning at the little white oven, waiting for a heart-shaped cookie which will inevitably be burned in the center, raw-doughy on the sides, and taste like plastic.

I wrote about Brooklyn's Bushwick Burlesque earlier this month, but their show is so nice that I've got to tell you twice.   If you stopped by Sunday's BUST Craftacular at the NY World Maker Faire, you may have created some DIY Bath Bombs or a journal; your instructor for those crafty courses was none other than the bootylicious "bikelesque" babe Miss Spoke.   Heather in craft mode at the Maker Faire; photos courtesy of Nikki Hung/Kim Ku. Known by day as Heather Loop, she brings her passion for bikes and burlesque together onstage.

Men Are Finished...  Does this mean total world domination by women, the end of men in power positions, or a surge toward gender equality? Recently the group Intelligence Squared held a debate, “Men Are Finished,” in N.Y.C. to argue all of this out. The debate was far from a simple battle of the sexes; it was more of a battle of feminist ideologies. Certainly an interesting title, the debaters spent most of the debate defining what “Men Are Finished” truly meant to them.
