We at BUST are big fans of JD Samson (of Le Tigre fame)—and we're so stoked to know that JD likes us back! You may remember JD’s tour blog for BUST when the band formerly known as MEN hit the road with CSS a few months ago; now the highly danceable band/performance art collective are going by the name JD Samson + MEN, self-releasing a new EP (called Next) on their own label (MEN Make Music) today, and letting BUST be the first to share...
We were browsing the World Wide Webternets today, on the hunt for some rad swimsuits for our June/July issue, when we came across a face that looked familiar on TheGiantPeach.com. That surly twinkle in the eye, those cartoony tattoos, that two-tone hair—this model is most definitely West Coast rapper Kreayshawn! (Compare her tattoos above with those in the below photo, for extra proof.) She’s clearly come a long way since this photo, especially in terms of her body modifications, but we’d recognize this adorable thug...
In the last few years, there’s been a bunch of new dark ladies making their mark in music-- Anika, Anna Calvi, Fever Ray, Rykarda Parasol, and Nika Roza Danilova (more commonly known as Zola Jesus) to name a few. This weekend’s episode of SNL was perhaps the best of all season, with a lineup that seemed ripped from the pages of BUST (plus plenty of killer cameos…and one by Bill O'Reilly?) and a distinctly female energy (no doubt stemming from host Maya Rudolph’s presence) that felt like a breath of fresh air—or a gasp for fresh air after laughing so hard at Rudolph and Kristen Wiig’s frozen-chicken-fondling, golf-cart-driving, accent-switching antics in the “Secret Showcase” sketch.  The always-welcome and always-wonderful Amy Poehler stopped by to...
The above photo includes: Veronika of Tick Tock Vintage, Liz of Olive, My Love, me (Twee Valley High), Emma Cooper, Emily of It Girl, Rag Doll, Erin of Calivintage, and Kater of All This Happiness. One of my favorite Fashion Week events had to be Lulu's Style Studio, where bloggers from all over gathered to mingle, shop, and eat cupcakes in style. It was an ultra-stylish party, and I was able to snap shots of some of my favorite looks as everyone walked around. Another blogger-filled event was the...
