Recently, I was hanging out with a friend who told me that she has been obsessed with making Katniss Everdeen braids lately. I immediately thought (after reading The Hunger Games series and watching the movie four times,) "WHY HAVEN’T I TRIED THAT YET?!" So I went home, researched what I needed to know, and started practicing. Here are some DIY tutorial videos, so you can get that Katniss-style braid too! While most of us were enjoying a lazy Friday, the U.S. Catholic nuns’ board members released a statement appearing to challenge the Vatican’s attempt to keep them in line this past April. According to the New York Times, the Vatican plans to send three American bishops to “lead a...
When you were a kid, did you ever find yourself looking forward to celery? Probably not, unless your parents did a really great brainwashing job. In that case, more power to them. Now, Disney is trying to step in and do that parent brainwashing job themselves. Or maybe we should call it reverse-brainwashing, in the way of removing all junk food advertisements.   My memories of food from when I was a kid consist of begging my Mom to lay off the healthy stuff. She was all...
With all the stress over the Wisconsin recall and the general election that we'll all be at each other's throats over at some point, it's good to bring a little levity to politics. Which is why when I checked out my newsfeed this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find my president serenading me. Although not by his own free will, and instead by the genius of some editing masterminds, Barack Obama is asking us to call him...maybe? This video features a clever splicing of his...
