BUST Magazine's Halloween party with Bryan Scary and the Shredding Tears was too ghoul for school! When we weren't doing the monster mash with music from Bryan Scary and the Shredding Tears, Everthus the Deadbeats, and Everything Now, partiers enjoyed complimentary libations from Blupoint Brewery and Sweet Leaf Tea! I must say that this party definitely showcased some of the finest costumes I ever did see. A few of my fav were the Hang in There Kitty and Pat and Amy. Other favs included The Three Stages of Bjork, and Thing One and Thing Two.

Mary Lillian Ellison, professional lady wrestler also known as The Fabulous Moolah, has died at the age of 84. Since the 1950's she wowed audiences with her signature moves, the leg lock, and the knee drop clothesline, and continued wrestling until very recently. Check out this awesome documentary to learn more: Lipstick and Dynamite (which was featured in BUST a few years back, natch). There is also a book about Moolah that came out in 2002.

i guess those metrocards ARE worth something after they've expired...

It is an undeniable fact that we are a hairless generation. Unlike our predecessors who valued a full bush, it seems that gals today run to the razor at the slightest sight of stubble. And with brazillian waxing on the rise, more often than not, girls are choosing to go bare, down there. The advantages are that waxing tends to last longer (usually 2-3 weeks) and many admit that they feel "cleaner" with it all gone. And while one may jump to think that girls are doing this for the men in their life, most girls admit that they do it for themselves more than anything.

Ever wonder who's behind the cringingly awkward yet hilarious, too-close-to-home moments in the life of Tammy Pierce, heroine of Bust's last-page comic? Then head here to Comixology, where you'll find an insightful profile of artist Esther Pearl Watson. Even I learned a little Tammy trivia: I had no idea that the Unlovable adventures are loosely based on a real life diary Esther found in a gas-station bathroom! That makes me love the comic even more. For extra Esther awesomeness, check out her website.

I am loving this new Niggy Tardust release, it's hip hop poet Saul Williams new project that is produced by his pal Trent Reznor, imagine some NIN beats but sung by a genius black man-  much better I tell you! And, similar to the Radiohead release, you can either download it for free, or support a great artist and pay only 5 bucks! Even my cheap ass can afford that :)  Download is available today here: www.saulwilliams.

I got my arty party on Halloween night at the Moti Hasson Gallery where artist Jillian McDonald was launching her zombie-riffic interdisciplinary exhibit "Waking The Dead." With candy, drinks, and free zombie makeovers, the show was the perfect place to start fright night off right! Here I am (on the right) with Jillian right after getting the glamour-gore treatment.
