Award-winning actor and advocate Geena Davis is set to launch a film festival this spring  that celebrates women and minority characters: Films will only qualify for the competition portion if the cast is gender-balanced and the script was written, directed, and led by a woman or minority person. Most women have experienced some shade of this situation: Someone (usually a person who isn't particularly polite) feels the need to name the relationship between the way you look and what you've accomplished, manifesting in comments like, "You're way too pretty to be a rocket scientist" or "You're a lawyer?! Actor Viola Davis accepted the award for Best Actress in a New TV Series at the 41st annual People’s Choice Awards last night. Here's to Fred and Carrie! Long live the weirdos! 1. There's no way we could...
Following Gaby Hoffmann's announcement regarding the berry-banana-placenta breakfast smoothies she sucked down following the birth of her daughter, we got to wondering about all the different ways people make use of the stuff.  Turns out that—while there's little scientific rationale for consuming placenta—there's also no lack of reliable resources that say it's really, really good for you, from helping to normalize postpartum hormones to supporting milk supply and re-toning the uterus. That sounds pretty good to us, so if you're thinking about adding placenta to...
