If the summer heat's got you going commando this season, don't leave your lonely lacies in a drawer. Send them to a Burmese embassy instead. The Panties for Peace campaign, revived this year in the wake of Cyclone Nargis, is calling for the ladies of the world to mail used underpants to their local Burmese embassies and speak out against the military regime's violation of human rights—against women in particular. The campaign was started last year by women's organization Lanna Action for Burma as a bid to end the rape, sexual violence and other abuse used to enforce the regime's rule.

This is just so sad, Tatum O'neal was busted again for drugs. When I was a kid, Paper Moon was my absolute favorite movie, I loved her cool, tom boy antics, and then bad News Bears come out- jeez, that was a masterpiece as far as I was concerned! Anyway, I guess all that  smoking and drinking on screen did lead to the addictions she can't seem to shake at 44 years old. I feel bad now.

Celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the most charming neighborhood newsstand in all of the Bay Area. Run by my bff, the lovely Noella M Teele, and her boo, Joe, Issues is a neighborhood newsstand and culture shop featuring magazines and newspapers from all over the world as well as a carefully selected stock of books, CDs, LPs, cassettes, art, jewelry, gifts, and more! Stop by the shop this Sunday to wish them a happy birthday! There will be food, a raffle, and complimentary beverages from Speakeasy Brewery.

The BUST offices are closed early today so that the entire staff could go see one of the first screenings of the "Sex and the City" movie. And no, we're not going to apolgoize for that.

My Sisters' Keeper is a non-profit mentoring program for first time young mothers between the ages of 13-19 residing in Brooklyn NY. Someone please go to this and report back!  Shorty gets loose. You know I only have a crush on Chris Brown because of his dance moves.

Spotted. An interesting little post on PH's blog.  Looks like he's found an online photo album full of pics from our two favorite UES boys.  This clever little gossipper has even gotten her hands on a few of shots of N as a kid.  Ooo and even highschool yearbook pics--How cute. But way more intereting has to be the pics of badass bass.

Don't pretend that you haven't had May 30th circled on your calendar in pink sharpie for months now. After you catch up with Carrie and Big, check out this Sex and the City after party sponsored by BUST.

Candacy Taylor, the artist behind the fabulous story “Dishing It Out” in the February/March ’08 issue of BUST, needs your help! Like a lot of us, Candacy didn’t have health insurance, and on February 19th she had to undergo emergency spinal surgery. She’s up and about, but on a cane—and hurting. Her health care costs for the next six months will be around $25,000. Did we mention no health insurance? There is something you can do to help her, though.

It officially feels like summer here today, and I'm loving the new items from Married to the Mob, check out the Barbara Kruger inspired beach towel! shweet.

Say hello to the Miracle Fruit.  The NYT featured this miracaculous little berry in it's dining and wine section today.  This tiny fruit has the power to alter our tastebuds, "rendering lemons as sweet as candy." Research shows that the berry has an active protein called miraculin which binds with the taste buds and, acting as a sweetness inducer, makes acidic foods taste sweet. The berry, Synsepalum dulcificum, is native to West Africa and was discovered way back in the day (1725 to be precise).
