Finally!  A teaser trailer for The Runaways starring Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie. Emphasis on the word 'teaser' -- it's less than a minute long. But you get to see 1) Dakota wearing some amazing '70s red streak blush and 2) K-Stew smash a chair. I've already watched it 3 times in the past 10 minutes.

Um, not even kidding when I tell you that I was JUST coming here to post this very thing. I just saw the preview (which I then replayed like 57 times) and am DYING DYING DYING to see this movie.

LOVES IT! AT LAST ANOTHER GIRL BAND MOVIE! i spotted Alia Shawkat on the background (representing us freckle girls)I hope this movie attracts a lot of teen girl and motives them to start girl bands across the world, oh how I wish this would happen.

I was excited about this movie until I found out Kristen Stewart had been picked to play Joan Jett. I just can't take her seriously as an actress.

As a great big fan of the Runaways and Joan, Lita, Cherie, Sandy, Jackie and the numerous other bass players, I fear their legacy will be sanitized and warped for a new generation. Joan is a careful business person who works hard to protect her brand but she has disowned the story of the Runaways for decades because of the shock and sleaze of 70s rock n'roll, especially when it involved adolescents because drugs and underage sex send up red flags today.

Runaways producer/creator Kim Fowley also signed off on the screenplay after being in the precarious position of an adult starmaker for a bunch of minors in LA in the 70s.

This said, I'll be the first in line to see the movie and I'll be hoping for some realism, but the Runaways were only possible because the 70s were fast and loose times, and that always gets lost in Hollywood rewrites. It's great to get more people hearing this music and even buying t-shirts and wristbands from Spencer Gifts, but music/cultural historians might be disappointed unless Joan and Kim decided to air it all out.

yeah, jvonghoul, i agree in hoping this movie isn't too watered down. i think Cheri never signed off on the story (she and Joan haven't been speaking for years... maybe something about some romantic entanglements between themselves) so i wonder if it will show her as a villain at some point.

either way, i'm pretty stoked. Joan Jett is a goddess and a total babe.

OMG. I cannot wait!

I'm about as old as the Runaways, and I remember their interview in (Young 'n' Lovin') TEEN magazine, where they were portrayed as Y'n'L TEENS, just like you! Only you don't have a Kim Fowley feeding you Lord-knows-what-drugs.

I got to know (in the non-Biblical sense) Kim Fowley a bit over a weekend about 20 years ago. He was, um, interesting. It made me question the judgment of the Runaways' parental figures.
