We've all lost a great talent today, Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London home. While it does not come as a surprise to most, it is still shocking that someone so young and so clearly gifted is gone. I didn't know Amy, but did work with her once back in 07 on her press tour for Back in Black during a photoshoot for BUST.  When that record came to our office, it was just so superior to anything we'd heard in years, and it was instantly loved by everyone.  It felt like finally someone had hit the mainstream who was 'one of us!' With her messy beehive hairdo, tatts and swagger, I couldn't wait to see her live. Yet at the shoot, I was struck by her obvious discomfort at being photographed, her severe stutter, and the dozens of cut marks on her arms. It was hard to believe that such a powerful voice could come out of such a tiny woman.

I'm saddened that she couldn't get out of the deep addiction, and wonder if the fact that she was such a money maker to so many, contributed to her decline and what we can only assume was her final undoing. She joins the 27 Club of dead rockers (Janis Joplin, Hendrix, Kurt Cobain) and our condolences go out to her family and friends. RIP Amy.
