Pay homage to the ’90s with a makeup look that’s totally now.
The early-’90s look wasn’t all babydoll dresses and steel-toe Doc Martens. It was also flawless skin, shimmery eyes, and an ultra-dark matte lip (think Drew Barrymore in her grungy flower child heyday and braces-era Gwen Stefani). Thanks to the decade’s current comeback, this combo is looking better than ever. Makeup artist Kristin Hilton tells us how to get it.
For the face:
Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation,
$62, sephora.com.
For the eyes:
Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Vénitien, $61, chanel.com; Swarovski Crystals, $9.99, michaels.com, applied with DUO Striplash Clear Adhesive, $5.00, bullseyelashes.com.
For the lips:
NARS Semi Matte Lipstick in Fire Down Below, $27, narscosmetics.com; MAC Lip Pencil in Mahogany, $16.50, maccosmetics.com.
