Sufjan Stevens played his second show at the Bowery Ballroom on October 5th as part of a small tour he is performing to workshop some new songs. Opening band Cryptacize got the sold-out show warmed up with pretty song stylings and herky jerky dance moves provided by lead singer Nedelle Torrisi. Nedelle also took the stage for background vocal duties during the entirety of Sufjan's set. The start of the evening was a bit rough due to a confusing mush of lines waiting outside to get in, and two flooded bathrooms ('you can go, but just don't flush,' the security guard warned). This just in -- a new 'younger' version of Thelma and Louise is in the works and is set to star Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) and Amber Heard (Pineapple Express). Leighton, we love you as Blair Waldorf, but can you really handle a classic like T and L? It's like asking us to believe Serena van der Woodsen can do Shakespeare -- it just ain't gonna happen. Plus the title is Cowgirl Bandits. Who gave this the green light? And how come I don't have their job? So what do you think, ladies? Is it a travesty, or is it awesome? I think you know where I stand. photo courtesy EW. Read More
Clare And The Reasons are listed as being Chinese Traditional music on their MySpace profile, but they are not Chinese nor Traditional. What they are is a Brooklyn based band fronted by Clare Manchon who is releasing its second album, Arrow, on October 20th. The first initial notes off of Arrow are sweet in such a way as to fool listeners into settling in for what they think may be a placid ride into musical dreamland. That doesn't last for long. Five minutes into the album and it's clear that the songs contain a wealth of depth underneath that candy-coated shell. Read More
So at long last, Where the Wild Things Are is opening today, after months of teasing trailers that have brought grown men to tears, online clips of Spike Jonze adorably romping with children behind the scenes, and clothing lines at Urban Outfitters and Opening Ceremony. Warner Bros. took a big chance on an indie director known for his music videos and his feature films Being John Malkovich and Adaptation. Read More
BUST loves supporting lady causes, especially the fight against domestic and other sexual violence. A few weeks ago, BUST lent a hand to Project BHAM, a Washington state organization committed to encouraging localism while benefitting the domestic violence and sexual assault services that keep their community safe and sound. This homegrown organization raised $1,200 at their Beauty Bar event (which brought in 350 guests), and helped raise awareness for women's services. Read More

Liz Lemon loves BUST

BY Laurie in General

We know that Liz Lemon is a BUST girl, as is our hero Tina Fey, but we got proof this week when one of our eagle eyed designers caught this in one of last 30 Rock season's episodes. Our Amy Poehler cover hanging in Liz's office! Who knows how long it's been there? I wonder if she'll update this season when our 2nd Amy cover comes out (Dec/Jan issue-it'll be a good one!). Keep tuned, and if you see something, say something. Oh, and commercial plug: if you wanna buy the issue and be just like Liz Lemon, you can do so here. Read More
