BUST Magazine is hosting an awesome fundraiser/party tonight in New York! It is not to be missed! All the proceeds from the door and the raffle go to support the performance of the Vagina Monolgues this coming Friday at New World Stages. And all the proceeds from that performance go to help the fight to end violence against women. Tonight is a party for a great cause, and on top of having a fantastic time, there are goodie bags for the first 100 attendees! Swag from Babeland, Adam and Eve and BUST are stuffed into sweet bags. Three of my favorite artists (Caroline, Saelee, and Seonna) have joined forces for a show, I Know What You're Thinking, that opens next week in New York. Knowing the work these ladies do, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a triple threat of awesomeness. See more of their work after the jump. Read More

Laid down by the Big-O!

BY Web Intern in TV

Everyone has been all over the Chris Brown-Rihanna beating controversy (c'mon, we've all seen the TMZ photo of her face post-beating by now...) that the Big-O has stepped in, and you KNOW it's somethin' serious when Oprah lays it down to ya. Read More
This was one of my favorite movies growing up, I even remember the soft white light bulb commercials that came on when she was falling down the hole. Ringo Starr and Sammy Davis Jr kill it, plus Scott Baio is adorbs! Does anyone else remember this? Bread and Butter! Carol Channing terrified me as the White Queen. Read More

Tonight my girl Nicola, (of Droopy Knickers fame), and I went to Comix to see our favorite Jersey mom impersonator and BUST Boy du Jour John Roberts. I was totally psyched when she told me he was performing, but when I found out that Margaret Cho was on the bill as well, I kind of freaked out. So we get to the show, totally amped, and who jumps on stage to start the set? None other than Flight of the Conchords darling, Kristen Schall! She was beyond adorable and got the show off to a great start. Then it was time for John. Read More

Blu Blockers

BY Laurie in General

All of this Snuggie talk reminds me of one of the greatest commercial response raps ever, the one here for BluBlockers. If you spent any time in the 80's watching late night TV, you'll probably remember BluBlockers, they were really big unisex sunglasses that were supposed to block out the sun in some miraculous way, sadly I do not own a pair. They really should bring them back, I think they would do very well with the williamsburg crowd. Anyway this dude MC Dr. Geek apparently freestyled a rap about his love for BBs and received at least 15 minutes of fame. Read More

EFF YES, GIRLSCHOOL!

BY Mollie Wells in General

Every time I go on a VH-1 Classic kick (i.e. every weekend), I come away with some new obsession that annoys the crap out of my friends--like the time I meowed (yes, meowed) Dio's Holy Diver for three straight days. This weekend, thanks to a Metal Mania marathon and new music project that kept me shuttered away with my bandmates, I re-discovered Girlschool, a group of old-school metal chicks best known for their association with fellow Brits Motorhead. These girls were so awesome, I can hardly stand it. Read More
The Bust office loves the snuggie. The above video by Mikey and Big Bob, DJs of Pittsburgh's Kiss 96.1 Freaks Morning Show, best illustrates why. Recently the New York Magazine fashion blog hosted a petty tirade against the hottest new revolution in lounge wear. I find their chief accusation, 'that the snuggie is not an item of apparel ' to be narrow minded and pompous. The NY mag commentators maintain that snuggies are an eyesore in public and should only be worn privately and shamefully, 'wearing the snuggie out is fine if you never want to have sex again. This design look familiar because this guy is everywhere. His name is Mike Perry and he is having an art show! The exhibit is called Found in Space and it will be held at Giant Robot from March 17th until April 8th. The opening reception is this Saturday (March 7th from 6:30 - 10). Mike Perry is one of my heros... though his designs look simple they are harder to create then they look... trust me my friends, I've tried. He really walks the line between high and low design and makes it look so easy. You can find his work every where; New York Times Magazine, Urban Outfitters, Zoo York. Read More
